Roy & Mary Mason

Alice S. Mason,in Norfolk, Virginia is married to the former Mary Pollard of Raleigh, NC. The couple have two daughters, Rebecca and Sarah, and three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jayden, and Gavin. The Mason's make their home in Charlotte, NC.

Beginning in 1985 when Roy was first invited to participate in a “partnership evangelism” project to Ecuador with the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, God began to shape his life for a ministry outside the constraints of the local church. During the next fifteen years he participated in global evangelism projects in Africa, Brazil, England, India, and Mexico. Mason says, “during each of these ministry projects God was shaping me for the greatest assignment of my life."

After 21 years in the pastoral ministry Mason entered the field of full-time, international evangelism in 2001 through the establishment of Global Evangelism Ministries, Inc. GEM, a non-profit corporation under the direction of a Board of Directors and Board of Advisors, has planned and conducted international projects in India, Romania, Togo, Ghana and is now working on ministry plans in the Czech Republic. Since the inception of GEM, over 280,000 first-time decisions have been recorded in four countries.

Denominational leaders support and applaud the work of GEM. Dr. Jimmy Draper, President of LifeWay Christian Resources (SBC) says, “I have known Roy Mason for a number of years and he has a great passion for preaching the gospel, and especially for taking the Word of God to those who haven't heard. His passion for the world uniquely equips him to serve in churches across this nation. His vision and commitment is always used of God to enlarge the horizon of a church to see the world beyond. He is a preacher with unusual ability and a vessel that is especially yielded to the Master's touch.” Mason served as a Trustee for LifeWay from 1993-2001 and as an Officer of the Board from 1998-2000.

The Executive Director of the Florida Baptist Convention, Dr. John Sullivan says of Mason, "I have been with Dr. Roy Mason in three revivals and have found him to be a winsome, warm-hearted soul-winner, as well as an exciting and exceptional communicator of the Gospel. I am delighted that God has called him out for this full-time vocational calling. I believe in what he is doing. He will do and excellent job of evangelism in your church!”

Both Draper and Sullivan serve on the Board of Advisors of Global Evangelism Ministries.
